IT Tralee are delighted to announce the launch of a new Level 6 Supervisory Management Programme which has been developed as a key upskilling solution for industries across the South-West based on the skills priority planning action of the industry-led South West Regional Skills Forum.
Already attracting significant attention from local companies, the Level 6 Certificate in Supervisory Management has been co-developed by IT Tralee and Cork Institute of Technology incorporating both Institution’s academic expertise and industry partners and is supported by South West Gno Skillnet and South Kerry Skillnet, and will be flexibly, delivered on a part-time basis on IT Tralee, North Campus from 31st October
The programme develops high calibre professionals, distinct in their abilities, understanding, skills and knowledge associated with a supervisory role in the manufacturing or services sector. The programme uses an innovative blend of real-world situations to assist participants in exploring opportunities and managing the challenges of supervisory roles. Participants will explore various theories and concepts developing a toolbox of skills that is valuable and readily usable and which will lead to advanced personal and interpersonal supervisory skills, enhanced operational excellence & improved team performance.
Students will study Introduction to Management: Management Practice, Introduction to Operations Excellence: Lean Practitioner, Performance Management, People Management including Conflict & Mediation.
Commenting on the upcoming programme Ms Brid Mc Elligott, Vice President - Research, Development and External Engagement at the Institute said “the development and delivery of this Special Purpose Award is a direct response to industry in the Cork and Kerry region with the programme being delivered on a part-time flexible manner in response to the need of the companies and their employees. The IT Tralee in partnership with CIT look forward to welcoming the new cohort of students on to the programme at the end of this month. Companies are extremely committed to supporting employees who are seeking progression opportunities to supervisory and managerial level and this course is a direct response to this need”.
Dr Siobhan Bradley, Manager of the South-West Regional Skills Forum highlighted how ‘this certificate is a solutions-focused response to a need identified by industry locally and combines the excellent blend of operations, people and performance manage skills training to ensure those participating are ideally equipped to succeed in supervisory management roles. It demonstrates the strength of industry education partnerships in co-developing and delivering upskilling programmes and we are very appreciative of the industry support throughout the process’.
